Learning the fundamentals of dance strengthens physical, mental, and social skills such as coordination, critical thinking, and collaboration. Participants will learn fundamental movement as well as dance terminology with the traditional French vocabulary. Participants will learn technique while also working with Teaching Artist Joppa Whitehead to memorize choreography.

Audience Maximum: 10 per session

Joppa Whitehead trained in ballet with Andrei Yemelianov and has taken summer Intensives at Dance Theatre of Harlem and Orlando Ballet. She has been a part of Todd Rosenlieb Dance Company since 2009. Joppa has performed in numerous repertoire concerts by both Todd Rosenlieb and Ricardo Melendez, as well as with Virginia Ballet Theatre (The Nutcracker), Virginia Musical Theatre (Oklahoma), Lyrical Opera Virginia (The King and I) and Virginia Symphony Opera.
