Program: African Fusion by Arts for Learning Virginia 

Let the beat of the drums move your body! This high-energy workshop incorporates basic stretches, strengthening, and full body movements set to West African and Afro-Caribbean rhythms. Attendees will learn dance, language, rhythm, and songs as they embark on a journey of movement that blends African and Afro-Caribbean culture. 

Who: All ages, Audience Maximum: 10 per session  

Bio: Jasmine Marshall 

Jasmine “Jae P Renee” Marshall began dancing 22 years ago with her church dance group. From there she began to think more about dance, which led her to join Honey in the Rock Dance troop back in 2007. She trained in classical ballet and modern dance at Old Dominion University while pursuing a Music & Entertainment Business Degree and later decided that she would like to mix her love for business management with her passion for dance. She joined a Hip-Hop dance choreography crew, Crewcial VA, where she was able to tap into the dance industry and begin training in North Carolina, Washington D.C., New York City, NY, and Philadelphia, PA. With her affiliation to the dance community, she began to teach dance to all ages, including children and adults, at various dance studios. She later was accepted into Academy of PHRESH, a Philadelphia Hip-Hop Adult Dance Company, where she was able to learn even more about the dance industry, network with famous choreographers and dancers, as well as grow as a dancer, choreographer, and teacher. She is currently a Special Education Teacher Assistant at Hickory High School and one of Inspire Arts Collective’s WOMAN VA ambassador and instructors and has recently founded an organization, Surge Dance Entertainment, a Hip-Hop freestyle dance event and management company. She is a talent manager, choreographer and professional Hip-Hop dancer and teacher that believes that through dance all people can connect and release.
